I really enjoyed making this skirt. It was well drafted, easy to sew and I still love the fun rear detailing! Making a statement when leaving is underrated... give 'em some RI: Rear Interest!
The skirt came out great! I love RI clothes. Actually on Project Runway they show a lot of rear interest. By the way, I like the screen you have in the photos. I've been looking for either directions on how to make one or a reasonably priced one to buy. Could you tell me where you got yours? It looks like fabric covering it is it?
Okay, this skirt is so gorgeous that the day you posted it I forwarded your post to a friend. Then I promptly closed my MS Outlook and couldn't find the post again to save my life! So, here I am, finally finding it and finally telling you...it is gorgeous and you should be so proud of yourself. Modern without being trendy, current without looking like you're trying to be 18 - it is perfect!
Oh, and Maggie, I bought that screen on Overstock! It is a fabric that has casings on the top and bottom and the rods go into little pegs (like dowels) to stay secure.
There are so many talented and articulate folks out there talking about their hobbies and interests. With so much to read and explore, I'm thrilled that you've stumbled into my little corner of the blogging world.
Hopefully my work, musings and stories will make you smile. Whether it's because you can relate to the challenges of sewing, or something has triggered a fond childhood memory of your own, I'm glad you're able to take something happy away with you.
A tribute to women of days gone by, when dressing was more defined. It was incorporated into a lifestyle much different than today. My blog talks about all aspects of vintage/retro culture, from fashion and tv, to cooking and attitudes.
Sewing isn't the only thing that keeps me busy. I'm a full-time homemaker and have two sons and two dogs, a black Lab and a Sheltie. I will write about them too!
I hope you enjoy!

Beautiful! So sleek and chic, and the bow and pleat are charming! Is that wool fabric?

Susannah, it is a wool/poly blend. It was ravelly, but great to work with overall!
